Supreme Court forces TV stations to sell more election ads at steep discounts
Republican victory means stations must offer lowest ad prices to political parties.

Students who don’t use AI are ahead on every measure

@davidgerard “one year of schooling” holy shit when I was growing up if you were one year behind your peers they started asking if you were on drugs
While I don't actually care about my media collection actually being physical, I strongly to those who do!
We both wish to keep our collections on us, safe in the knowledge it won't change out from under us. We want to share our collections with friends, & preserve it for future generations.
The difference is that I know what to demand to realize this digitally, whereas others have had their trust broken far too many times. Most digital storefronts go out of their way to be untrustworthy!
@alcinnz - If you have some recent vintage computers (from the last decade or so) around and are comfortable being your own sysadmin, I can't recommend Jellyfin enough.
They recently had a new release drop as well, which brings in books and comics, in addition to film am music.
It's nice having your own streaming server in your closet (and accessible outside your home network via a VPN like Tailscale).

So. Still working my way through the punchlist of tweaks I’d wanted to make, but: please enjoy this new site, much much closer to the way I wanted it to look.
Eventually you ought to find links there to just about everything I’ve written since 2015, but much of that material’s already on the site, as well as Lifepod episodes, links to all my books, and listings for upcoming (and past!) events. Thanks for bearing with me as I sand down the rough edges in real time.
@adamgreenfield Oh nice, and you got @commonknowledge to design the site 🙌
On some level I know better than to sound off about this sorrow here, because I imagine I know what kind of response it’ll garner. But I’m watching someone I’ve known for a long time go well and truly off the AI deep end, and you know what? It hurts.
That’s what we don’t talk about enough: the unsustainable shear that opens up between people when they commit to differing visions of our future with this stuff. It’s like losing someone you care about to MAGA – or worse, even: to Q.
@adamgreenfield that would be me, no doubt!
